WASHINGTON WIZARDS 114 ATLANTA HAWKS 107 (WAS LEADS 1-0)
WASHINGTON – John Wall paced the Wizards (49-33) with 32 points and 14 assists, scoring 15 of those points in the third quarter. Bradley Beal added 22 points, Marcin Gortat had 14 points and 10 rebounds. Markieff Morris, in his first ever playoff game, finished with 21 points, seven rebounds and four blocks.
Dennis Schroder scored 25 points and handed out nine assists for the Hawks (43-39). Paul Millsap put up 19 points.
GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS 121 PORTLAND TRAIL BLAZERS 109 (GSW LEADS 1-0)
OAKLAND – Kevin Durant dropped 32 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to help the Warriors (67-15) take care of business in his first playoff game as a member of their team. Stephen Curry added 29 points. Draymond Green got things done defensively, and finished with 19 points, 12 rebounds, nine assists, five blocks and three steals. Klay Thompson chipped in 15 points.
Golden State outscored Portland 33-21 in the fourth.
C.J. McCollum (Lehigh) poured in a career playoff-high 41 points, and set the Blazers (41-41) franchise-record of points in a half with 27. Damian Lillard put up 34 points.
CHICAGO BULLS 106 BOSTON CELTICS 102 (CHI LEADS 1-0)
BOSTON – Jimmy Butler led the Bulls (41-41) to the upset victory over the top-seeded Celtics (53-39) with 30 points and nine rebounds. Bobby Portis came off the bench to put up 19 points and nine rebounds. Robin Lopez added 14 points and 11 rebounds. Rajon Rondo provided 12 points, seven rebounds and six assists against his former team.
Isaiah Thomas, on an emotional night, scored 33 points on 10-of-18 shooting to go along with six assists for Boston. Thomas’ 22-year-old sister, Chyna, passed away a day earlier in a single-car accident in their home state of Washington.
HOUSTON ROCKETS 118 OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER 87 (HOU LEADS 1-0)
HOUSTON – James Harden went off against his former team and scored 37 points, handed out nine assists, grabbed seven rebounds, and swiped three steals for the Rockets (55-27). Patrick Beverly added 21 points and 10 rebounds.
Houston bullied Oklahoma City on the boards, outrebounding them 56-41.
Russell Westbrook finished with 22 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists for the Thunder (47-35).
