DENVER – Russell Westbrook sank the game-winning shot 36 feet away from the basket to beat the buzzer to help the Thunder (46-34) escape with the victory. Westbrook finished with 50 points, 16 rebounds and 10 assists for his 42nd triple-double of the season, passing Oscar Robertson‘s previous record of 41 set in 1961-1962. Westbrook will also be the second player in NBA history to average a triple-double for an entire season, as Robertson accomplished that feat in his record-setting year as well.
Steven Adams chipped in 10 points and 10 rebounds, Enes Kanter added 15 points and eight rebounds.
Danilo Gallinari dropped 34 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Nuggets (38-42), who were eliminated from playoff contention with the loss. Nikola Jokic had 23 points, six rebounds and three assists.
ATLANTA HAWKS 126 CLEVELAND CAVALIERS 125 (OT)
ATLANTA – Mike Muscala (Bucknell) drilled a 3-pointer from the right corner and gave the Hawks (42-38) the lead for good with 35 seconds left in overtime. Muscala finished with 12 points, five rebounds and four assists. Atlanta outscored Cleveland 44-18 in the fourth after trailing by as many as 26 in the quarter. Paul Millsap added 22 points and nine rebounds, Tim Hardaway Jr. chipped in 21 points and nine rebounds. Kyrie Irving scored 45 points and dished out nine assists for the Cavs (51-29). LeBron James had a triple-double – 32 points, 16 rebounds and 10 assists.
LOS ANGELES LAKERS 110 MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES 109
LOS ANGELES – D’Angelo Russell hit a game-winning trey to beat the buzzer to help the Lakers (25-55) win their fourth straight game. Russell, who dedicated the game-winner to his grandma who passed away early Sunday morning, finished with 16 points, four assists and three steals. Tyler Ennis and Jordan Clarkson scored 20 and 17 points, respectively. Karl-Anthony Towns earned his first career 40-20 game, finishing with 40 points and 21 rebounds for the Wolves (31-49). KAT is the first Timberwolves’ player to ever record a 40-20 game. Andrew Wiggins dropped 41 points.
TORONTO RAPTORS 110 NEW YORK KNICKS 97
NEW YORK – DeMar DeRozan poured in 35 points to help the Raptors (50-31) clinch a top 3 seed in the east. Kyle Lowry added 17 points and 11 assists. Willy Hernangomez had 24 points, 11 rebounds and five assists for the Knicks (30-51).
PHOENIX SUNS 124 DALLAS MAVERICKS 111
PHOENIX – Devin Booker and T.J. Warren scored 21 apiece to lead the Suns (24-57). Tyler Ulis added 20 points and 10 assists. Yogi Ferrell and Dwight Powell had 21 points each for the Mavs (32-48).
DETROIT PISTONS 103 MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES 90
MEMPHIS – Boban Marjanovic and Reggie Bullock paced the Pistons (37-43) with 14 points each. Marjanovic also grabbed 10 rebounds. Mike Conley scored 15 points for the Grizzlies (43-38).
HOUSTON ROCKETS 135 SACRAMENTO KINGS 128
SACRAMENTO – James Harden led the Rockets with a triple-double – 35 points, 15 assists and 11 rebounds. Ryan Anderson added 21 points. Skal Labissiere dropped 25 points for the Kings (31-49).
