NBA Roundup: Whiteside tips home game-winning buzzer-beater, Rubio’s free-throws lifts Wolves, and Wall leads Wizards

AUBURN HILLS – Hassan Whiteside tipped home the game-winner at the buzzer to lead the Heat (36-38) in Motown. Whiteside finished with 17 points and nine rebounds. Goran Dragic added 28 points.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope dropped 25 points for the Pistons (34-41). Tobias Harris and Ish Smith each scored 19 points. Andre Drummond had nine points and 13 rebounds.

Miami moved a full game ahead of the Chicago Bulls for the eighth and final playoff spot in the east.

MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES 115 INDIANA PACERS 114

INDIANAPOLIS – Ricky Rubio sank two free-throws with 3.4 seconds left to help the Wolves (29-44) come away with the victory. Rubio finished with 21 points and 10 assists. Karl-Anthony Towns dropped 37 points and 12 rebounds. Paul George scored 37 points for the Pacers (37-37). Jeff Teague added 20 points and 10 assists.

WASHINGTON WIZARDS 119 LOS ANGELES LAKERS 108

LOS ANGELES – John Wall paced the Wizards (46-28) with 34 points and 14 assists. Bradley Beal added 16 points. D’Angelo Russell scored 28 points and handed out nine assists for the Lakers (21-53). Jordan Clarkson dropped 22 points.

PHILADELPHIA 76ers 106 BROOKLYN NETS 101

NEW YORK – Dario Saric led the Sixers (28-46) with 23 points and seven rebounds. Robert Covington added 21 points and 13 rebounds. Brook Lopez had 26 points, nine rebounds and six assists for the Nets (16-58).

MILWAUKEE BUCKS 118 CHARLOTTE HORNETS 108

CHARLOTTE – Tony Snell put up 26 points to lead the Bucks (38-36). Giannis Antetokounmpo added 20 points and eight rebounds. Kemba Walker dropped 26 points for the Hornets (33-41).

ATLANTA HAWKS 95 PHOENIX SUNS 91

ATLANTA – Dennis Schroder carried the Hawks (38-36) with 27 points, nine assists and six rebounds. Ersan Ilyasova added 18 points and 12 rebounds. T.J. Warren had 24 points and eight rebounds for the Suns (22-53).

GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS 113 HOUSTON ROCKETS 106

HOUSTON – Stephen Curry poured in 32 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out seven assists for the Warriors (60-14). Klay Thompson added 25 points. James Harden had a triple-double for the Rockets (51-23) – 24 points, 13 assists and 11 rebounds.

PORTLAND TRAIL BLAZERS 122 DENVER NUGGETS 113

PORTLAND – C.J. McCollum (Lehigh) exploded for 39 points to lead the Blazers (36-38). Jusuf Nurkic added 33 points and 16 rebounds on a career-night against his former team. Damian Lillard dropped 19 points, dished out seven assists and hauled in six rebounds. Jameer Nelson (Saint Joseph’s) had 23 points and four assists for the Nuggets (35-39).
