TORONTO – Russell Westbrook had 24 points, 16 assists and 10 rebounds for his 34th triple-double of the season as the Oklahoma City Thunder (39-29) defeated the Toronto Raptors (39-29) on Thursday night. Victor Oladipo added 23 points on the night. DeMar DeRozan led the Raptors with 22 points, one of five players who scored in double figures, but with just 14 games remaining in the regular season, time is running out for the Raptors to move up in the Eastern Conference.
Cleveland Cavaliers 91 Utah Jazz 83
CLEVELAND – LeBron James scored 33 points, including 17 in the fourth quarter, and the Cleveland Cavaliers (45-22) beat the Utah Jazz (43-26) last night. He was 13 of 20 from the field and recorded 10 rebounds with six assists. He also moved into 13th place all time in field goals, passing Tim Duncan in the fourth quarter. Kevin Love played for the first time since having surgery on his left knee last month, and scored 10 points in 19 minutes. But Kyrie Irving and Iman Shumpert left with injuries. Irving dropped 21 points on the night but he didn’t play in the fourth quarter because of tightness in his left knee and said he left for precautionary reasons. Shumpert had to leave the game in the third quarter because he sprained his left shoulder. Rudy Gobert led the Jazz with 20 points and 18 rebounds on the night.
Brooklyn Nets 121 New York Knicks 110
NEW YORK – Brook Lopez scored 24 points and the Brooklyn Nets (13-54) dominated the second half to defeat the Knicks (27-42) on Thursday night. This is Brooklyn’s second-straight victory over their New York rivals in five days. Rondae Hollis-Jefferson recorded a double-double (20 points and 10 rebounds). Kyle O’Quinn came off the bench to a tie a career high with 23 points for the Knicks. Derrick Rose added 22 points and Carmelo Anthony finished with 17 points.
Memphis Grizzlies 103 Atlanta Hawks 91
ATLANTA – Marc Gasol recorded a triple-double (18 points, 10 assists, and 10 rebounds) and Memphis Grizzlies (39-30) beat the Atlanta Hawks (37-31) on Thursday night. Mike Conley led the Grizzlies in the scoring department with 22 points. He also recorded 12 assists, giving him a double-double on the night. JaMychal Green also recorded a double-double for the Grizzlies (14 points and 12 rebounds). Tim Hardaway Jr. led the Hawks with 18 points.
Denver Nuggets 129 Los Angeles Clippers 114
DENVER – Will Barton scored a career-high 35 points, Nikola Jokic recorded his fifth triple-double of the season and the Nuggets (33-35) beat the Clippers (40-29) on Thursday night to win their fourth straight game. Jokic finished with 17 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists to help lead Denver to a win in a matchup of short-handed teams. Denver forwards Wilson Chandler (right groin) and Danilo Gallinari (left knee bone bruise) also sat. Kenneth Faried returned after missing nine games with lower back spasms. Faried had 12 points in 18 minutes. The Clippers played without DeAndre Jordan and Blake Griffin. J.J. Redick led the Clippers with 22 points on the night.
Golden State Warriors 122 Orlando Magic 92
GOLDEN STATE – Klay Thompson scored 21 of his 29 points in the first quarter and the Golden State Warriors take down the Orlando Magic on Thursday night. Stephen Curry added 25 points and nine assists, Andre Iguodala scored 14 and Zaza Pachulia recorded a double-double (10 points and 10 rebounds) to help Golden State improve to an NBA-best 54-14 and clinch their third straight Pacific Division title for the first time in franchise history. Jeff Green and Elfrid Payton scored 13 points apiece for Orlando.
