CLEVELAND – Jimmy Butler recorded a triple-double (18 points, 10 assists, and 10 rebounds) as the Bulls (30-29) moved a game over .500 with a 117-99 win over the Cavs (40-17). Dwayne Wade led the Bulls in the scoring department with 20 points. Wade also recorded 10 assists and 9 rebounds. Rajon Rondo scored 15 points coming off the bench. The Bulls are now tied with the Indiana Pacers (30-29) in the Eastern Conference.
Kyrie Irving led Cleveland with 34 points. He also had nine rebounds and seven assists. LeBron James didn’t play Saturday night due to an illness.
New York Knicks 110 Philadelphia 76ers 109
NEW YORK – Carmelo Anthony’s 37 points was just enough as the Knicks (24-35) won 110-109. Anthony made a huge jumper with only .3 seconds left in the game. Derrick Rose finished with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Justin Holiday cashed in 14 points off the bench. Jahlil Okafor was the leading score for the 76ers (22-36) with 37 points.
Orlando Magic 105 Atlanta Hawks 86
ORLANDO – Terrence Ross scored 24 points, Nikola Vucevic had 16 points and 14 rebounds, and the Orlando Magic (22-38) beat the Atlanta Hawks (32-26) 105-86 on Saturday night to snap a two-game skid. Aaron Gordon finished the game with 18 points and Elfrid Payton cashed in 15 points. Tim Hardaway led the Hawks in scoring with 15 points. He also recorded three rebounds and a steal.
Miami Heat 113 Indiana Pacers 95
MIAMI – Hassan Whiteside scored 22 points and grabbed 17 rebounds, Dion Waiters added 22 points as the Miami Heat (27-32) pulled away in the fourth quarter to beat the Indiana Pacers (30-29) 113-95. Goran Dragic finished the night off with 21 points and four assists. Joe Johnson came off the bench and cashed in 15 points for the Heat. Miami is on a 3-game winning streak. Paul George got ejected in the middle of the third quarter as he finished with 10 points for Indiana. Myles Turner was the leading scorer for the Pacers as he dished in 18 points. Jeff Teague finished with 16 points.
Houston Rockets 142 Minnesota Timberwolves 130
HOUSTON – James Harden had 24 points and 10 assists to lead the Houston Rockets (42-18) to a 142-130 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves (23-36). Both teams ended up scoring their season highs in a shootout. Each member of the Houston Rockets had their fair share of scoring. Patrick Beverley and Trevor Ariza both finished with 15 points, Ryan Anderson added 18 points, Lou Williams dished in 17, and that’s only a few players. Karl Anthony-Towns finished with 37 points as he was the leading scorer for the Timberwolves. Andrew Wiggins dropped 37 points plus three steals on the night.
Golden State 112 Brooklyn Nets 97
GOLDEN STATE – Stephen Curry led the Warriors (49-9) in the scoring department with 27 points as the Warriors defeated the Nets 112-97. Klay Thompson dropped 24 points with four rebounds and four assists. The Warriors became the quickest team to clinch a playoff spot in NBA history. Rondae Hollis-Jefferson cashed in 16 points for Brooklyn. Brooklyn (9-49) has lost 16 straight games.
Dallas Mavericks 96 New Orleans Pelicans 83
DALLAS – Harrison Barnes scored 19 points and Dirk Nowitzki added 18 points and nine rebounds as the Dallas Mavericks (23-35) ended a three-game losing streak beating the New Orleans Pelicans (23-36) 96-83. As a team, the Mavericks shot just under 46-percent from the field. Anthony Davis led the Pelicans with 39 points. He also grabbed 14 rebounds.
Charlotte Hornets 99 Sacramento Kings 85
SACRAMENTO – Frank Kaminsky recorded a double-double (23 points and 13 rebounds) as the Charlotte Hornets (25-33) went on the road to win. Kaminsky’s shooting percentage was 50-percent from the field. Marvin Williams finished with 16 points and 6 rebounds. Ben McLemore finished with 18 points for Sacramento.
