Houston Rockets 129 New Orleans Pelicans 99
NEW ORLEANS – The Boogie (DeMarcus Cousins) and Brow (Anthony Davis) era in New Orleans is off to a rough start as the Pelicans lost to the Rockets 129-99. Anthony Davis led the team in scoring with 29 points. Thirteen of his points came from the free throw line. Cousins recorded a double-double (27 points, 14 rebounds.) He also had five assists and five steals.
Coming off the bench, Lou Williams led the Rockets scoring 27 points. Eric Gordon cashed in 19, and Ryan Anderson finished the night off with 17 points. Houston’s 3-point percentage was just under 40-percent on the night.
Portland Trail Blazers 112 Orlando Magic 103
ORLANDO – Damian Lillard led the Trail Blazers (24-33) with 33 points and five assists. C.J. McCollum recorded 22 points and six assists as Portland snapped a three-game losing streak. Nikola Vucevic led the Magic (21-38) with 25 points as the Magic have now lost six of their last seven games.
Cleveland Cavaliers 119 New York Knicks 104
CLEVELAND – Lebron James recorded his sixth triple-double of the season (18 pts, 13 rebounds, 15 assists as Cleveland (40-16) got their first win coming off the All-Star Break. Kyrie Irving led the team in scoring (23 points), and Kyle Korver netted 20 points coming off the bench. Courtney Lee recorded 25 points for New York (23-35).
Detroit Pistons 114 Charlotte Hornets 108 (OT)
DETROIT – Kentavious Caldwell-Pope lifted the Pistons (28-30) with 33 points, nine rebounds and three assists as they had to play an extra five minutes of basketball in the win over the Pistons. Tobias Harris finished the night with 25 points, seven rebounds, and three assists. Kemba Walker led the Hornets (24-33) in scoring with 34 points as Michael Kidd-Gilchrist recorded a double-double (12 points and 14 rebounds).
Golden State Warriors 123 Los Angeles Clippers 113
GOLDEN STATE – Steph Curry finished the night off by leading in the scoring department with 35 points for Golden State (48-9). Seventeen of his points came in the third quarter. Kevin Durant scored 15 of his 25 points in the third quarter. Austin Rivers and Jamal Crawford led the team in scoring with 19 points apiece.
Sacramento Kings 116 Denver Nuggets 100
SACRAMENTO – Willie Cauley-Stein had a career-high with 29 points and 10 rebounds to help the Kings take down the Nuggets (25-32) 116-100. This was Sacramento’s (25-33) first game since trading DeMarcus Cousins. Gary Harris led Denver in scoring with 19 points.
