NBA Roundup: Pierce bids adieu to Beantown; Raptors stop skid

BOSTON – Isaiah Thomas netted 28 points and dished out eight assists as the Celtics (33-18) ran their winning streak to seven.

Los Angeles Clipper Blake Griffin dropped a team-high 23 points, grabbed eight rebounds and handed out four assists.

Former Celtic and current Clipper, Paul Pierce played his final game in Boston’s T.D. Garden on Sunday. Pierce will retire at the end of this his 19th season in the NBA. Pierce played his first 15 years with Boston including the ’08 championship team. He led that Celtic squad scoring 19.6 points per game.

Pierce, who averages 11.8 minutes per game this season, started on Sunday and played five minutes. He walked on to the court before the opening tip and kissed the the famed leprechaun in the court’s center circle. Pierce re-entered the game with 19 seconds remaining and knocked down his final three ball in the Garden with 11 seconds left, his only points of the game.

Toronto Raptors 103  Brooklyn Nets 95

BROOKLYN – Kyle Lowry recorded a triple-double with 15 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists to help end the Raptors (31-21)  two-game losing skid. Jonas Valanciunas added a team-high 22 points and grabbed five rebounds. Brooklyn’s Brook Lopez collected 20 points and seven rebounds, but the Nets (9-42) fell for the ninth straight time.

Oklahoma City Thunder 105  Portland Trail Blazers 99

OKLAHOMA CITY – Russell Westbrook scored 42 points, dished out eight assists and grabbed four rebounds as the Thunder (29-22) won their second straight. Victor Oladipo added a double-double with 24 points and 13 rebounds. Damian Lillard dropped 29 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out three assists, but the Trail Blazers (22-30) lost their second in a row. C.J. McCollum (Lehigh) had 19 points, eight rebounds in 31 minutes played.
