NC State upsets Duke at Cameron; Gottfried wins 400th

NC STATE 84 No. 17 DUKE 82

Dennis Smith Jr. scored nine points during a 16-3 NC State Wolfpack run late in the second half to upset No. 17 Duke on the road and give head coach Mark Gottfried his 400th career win.

Smith Jr. dropped 32 points, adding six assists, four rebounds and a pair of steals for the Wolfpack. Luke Kennard came off the bench to net 20 points, grab five rebounds and hand out four assists for the Blue Devils.

The Wolfpack, which came into the game 37th in the nation shooting 48 percent from the floor, connected on 29 of 57 (50.9 percent) from the field including 16 of 29 (55.2 percent) in the second half.

The Wolfpack improves to 14-7 and the Blue Devils drop to 15-5.

No. 3 GONZAGA 83 PORTLAND 64

Gonzaga’s (20-0) Zach Collins had 13 points and eight rebounds for the bench. D’Marques Tyson put up 15 points and five rebounds off the bench for Portland (9-11). Portland has now lost six straight games.
