WASHINGTON WIZARDS 113 NEW YORK KNICKS 110
NEW YORK – John Wall crossed up Brandon Jennings and took it coast-to-coast for the slam to give the Wizards (23-19) a three-point cushion with 13.7 seconds left. The first pick of the 2010 NBA Draft finished with 29 points, 13 assists, five rebounds and three steals.
The Knicks (19-25) had a chance to tie things up and send the game into overtime, but Wall came up big once again and stripped the ball out of Jennings’ hands to end the game. Wall then proceeded to share a hug with New York Yankees star pitcher C.C. Sabathia.
Otto Porter Jr. added 23 points and matched a career-high that was set yesterday with six 3-pointers. Marcin Gortat chipped in with a double-double – 12 points and 12 boards.
Carmelo Anthony had 34 points and 10 rebounds for New York. Melo was seemingly unbothered by trade rumors in the second quarter as he set the Knicks franchise record for points in a quarter with 25. Derrick Rose scored 20 points on 7-of-16 shooting. Kristaps Porzingis came off the bench to drop 15 points after missing the last four games with a sore left Achilles tendon.
CLEVELAND CAVALIERS 118 PHOENIX SUNS 103
CLEVELAND – LeBron James nearly finished with a triple-double – 21 points, 15 assists and nine rebounds for the Cavs (30-11). Kyrie Irving added a game-high 26 points on 10-of-20 shooting. Channing Frye provided 18 points and 10 rebounds off the bench against his former team. Tyson Chandler had 22 points and 16 rebounds for the Suns (13-29). Eric Bledsoe scored 22 points of his own to go along with nine dimes, six boards and four steals. Devin Booker contributed with 21 points, eight assists and seven rebounds.
MIAMI HEAT 99 DALLAS MAVERICKS 95
MIAMI – Goran Dragic dropped 32 points and grabbed six rebounds for the Heat (13-30). Tyler Johnson came off the bench to score 23 points. Dirk Nowitzki and Wesley Matthews had 19 and 18 points, respectively, for the Mavs (14-28).
SAN ANTONIO SPURS 118 DENVER NUGGETS 104
SAN ANTONIO – Kawhi Leonard netted 34 points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals for the Spurs (33-9). Dejounte Murray filled in for Tony Parker (foot), and capitalized with 24 points. Nikola Jokic poured in 35 points and secured 12 boards for the Nuggets (17-24). Jameer Nelson (Saint Joseph’s) scored five points and handed out nine dimes.
MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES 104 LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS 101
LOS ANGELES – Karl-Anthony Towns exploded for 37 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and handed out five assists to lead the Wolves (15-28). Andrew Wiggins added 27 points. DeAndre Jordan had 29 points and 16 boards for the Clippers (29-15). Austin Rivers replaced the injured Chris Paul in the starting lineup and dropped 20 points.
