No. 10 WVU knocks off No. 1 Baylor

Tuesday night’s Top 25 action. 

No. 10 WEST VIRGINIA 89 No. 1 BAYLOR 68

Behind a 50-point second half, the West Virginia Mountaineers went wire-to-wire to upset the top-ranked Baylor Bears.

West Virginia, ranked number one in the country forcing more than 24 turnovers per game, converted 29 Baylor mishandles into 29 points.

Nathan Adrian led the Mountaineers with a 22-point, six-rebound, three-steal and two-assist night.

The Mountaineers improve to 14-2 and the Bears fall to 15-1.

No. 2 KANSAS 81 OKLAHOMA 70

Frank Mason III led Kansas (14-1) with 28 points, and Landen Lucas contributed a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds. Rashard Odomes paced Oklahoma (6-9) with 13 points, four rebounds and two steals. Kansas has now won its last 14 games. Oklahoma has lost seven straight.

No. 3 VILLANOVA 79 No. 15 XAVIER 54

Josh Hart dropped 20 points, grabbed six rebounds and dished out five assists for Nova (16-1). Trevon Bluiett scored 10 points, grabbed five rebounds and handed out four assists of his own for Xavier (13-3).

No. 6 KENTUCKY 87 VANDERBILT 81

Isaiah Briscoe scored 23 points, adding seven rebounds and five assists for Kentucky (14-2). Jeff Roberson narrowly missed a double-double with 19 points and nine rebounds for Vanderbilt (8-8).

No. 9 FLORIDA STATE 88 No. 7 DUKE 72

Florida State’s (16-1) Xavier Rathan-Mayes netted 21 points, also adding three assists and two rebounds, in the win. Luke Kennard netted 23 points to go with three rebounds, two assists and a steal for Duke (14-3). The win was a program record 11 straight for Florida State.

No. 23 FLORIDA 80 ALABAMA 67

Kasey Hill scored 13 points, collected five rebounds, five steals and four assists for Florida (13-3). Braxton Key scored 24 points and collected five rebounds for Alabama (9-6). The win marks Florida’s sixth in a row.

TEXAS TECH 66 No. 25 KANSAS STATE 65

Texas Tech’s (13-3) Zach Smith picked up 16 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Kansas State’s (13-3) Kamau Stokes collected 17 points and five rebounds for the game.

OTHER:

OHIO 74 BUFFALO 72

Dontay Caruthers (East High) scored two points, grabbed two rebounds and dished out an assist before fouling out for Buffalo.

DEPAUL 64 PROVIDENCE 63

Before fouling out, Emmitt Holt (Webster Schroeder) scored 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds for Providence.

MARYLAND 75 INDIANA 72

Thomas Bryant (Bishop Kearney) scored six points, grabbed seven rebounds and handed out two assists for Indiana.
