Ivan Rabb hit two free throws with 5.2 second left in the game and followed with a block of a layup attempt on the ensuing play to seal the victory. Rabb paced Cal’s offense with 17 points.
The Bears, ranked 16th in the nation grabbing better than 41 rebounds a game, controlled the boards 35-28 and converted 12 offensive rebounds into an 18-6 advantage in second-chance points. Jabari Bird and Rabb grabbed a game-high eight caroms apiece.
Charlie Moore scored 16 for Cal while Bird and Don Coleman chipped in a dozen apiece.
The Golden Bears improve to 11-5 and the Trojans drop to 15-2.

T.J. Leaf dropped 15 points and pulled in 10 rebounds for a double-double to lead UCLA (16-1) to a win. Michael Humphrey scored 27 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in a losing effort.
No. 11 VIRGINIA 79 WAKE FOREST 62
London Perrantes scored 24 points, grabbed four rebounds and dished out a pair of assists for Virginia (12-3).
No. 20 PURDUE 66 No. 13 WISCONSIN 55
Caleb Swanigan recorded a double-double with 18 points and 13 rebound. Ethan Happ led Wisconsin (13-3) with 17 points, six steals, five rebounds and four assists. The loss snapped Wisconsin’s nine-game win streak.
No. 14 NORTH CAROLINA 107 NC STATE 56
North Carolina (14-3) took advantage of an extra day off, as Joel Berry II’s 19 points, five rebounds, five assists and two steals helped the Tar Heels to the 51-point win. The game was postponed on Saturday due to weather.
