MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES 88 UTAH JAZZ 79
MEMPHIS – Mike Conley paced the Grizzlies (24-16) to their second straight win with 19 points and nine assists. Marc Gasol added 17 points. Zach Randolph came off the bench to score 13 points and grab 11 rebounds.
Both teams came into the game ranked two of the top three defensive teams in the NBA.
Vince Carter banked home the triple at the buzzer to end the third quarter to give Memphis the 63-51 lead heading into the final quarter. Troy Daniels (VCU) hit a three just before Carter’s buzzer-beater, finishing with six points on the night.
The Grizzlies used the momentum off Carter’s buzzer-beater to build a lead as large as 17 early in the fourth, but the Jazz (23-16) went on a 23-11 run to cut their deficit to five with the score being 82-77 with 1:09 left in the game. But Rudy Gobert fouled Gasol behind the arc with 25 seconds left, and Gasol went on to convert on all three of his attempts to put the game out of reach.
Gobert finished with five points and 13 boards for the Jazz. Gordon Hayward dropped a game-high 22 points.
PHILADELPHIA 76ers 105 BROOKLYN NETS 95
BROOKLYN – Joel Embiid led the Sixers (10-25) with 20 points, five rebounds and four assists to help them match their win total from all of last season. Brook Lopez put in a game-high 26 points for the Nets (8-28), who have dropped six straight games.
GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS 117 SACRAMENTO KINGS 106
SACRAMENTO – Stephen Curry dropped 30 points and splashed home five threes to help the Warriors (32-6) get the victory. Curry also handed out six assists. Kevin Durant added 28 points, seven rebounds and six dimes. DeMarcus Cousins scored 17 points and grabbed 10 boards for the Kings (15-22). Rudy Gay put in a team-high 23 points.
WASHINGTON WIZARDS 107 MILWAUKEE BUCKS 101
MILWAUKEE – Bradley Beal poured in 26 points to lead the Wizards (18-18). Markieff Morris added a double-double – 20 points and 10 rebounds. John Wall chipped in with 16 points, seven assists and seven rebounds. Jabari Parker had 28 points, eight boards and seven dimes for the Bucks (18-18).
LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS 98 MIAMI HEAT 86
LOS ANGELES – Chris Paul scored 19 points, dished out 18 assists, and grabbed six rebounds to pace the Clippers (26-14). J.J. Redick added 25 points on 9-of-19 shooting. Goran Dragic finished with 24 points, five boards and five dimes for the Heat (11-28).
HOUSTON ROCKETS 129 TORONTO RAPTORS 122
TORONTO – James Harden (40 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds) finished with yet another triple-double to help the Rockets (30-9) pick up their eighth straight victory. Montrezl Harrell came off the bench to score 28 points. DeMar DeRozan had 36 points, six rebounds and five assists for the Raptors (24-13).
CLEVELAND CAVALIERS 120 PHOENIX SUNS 116
PHOENIX – The trio of LeBron James (28 points), Kyrie Irving (27 points) and Kevin Love (25 points) combined to score 80 for the Cavs (28-8). Love and James grabbed 10 and eight rebounds, respectively. Irving dished out seven assists. Eric Bledsoe and Devin Booker dropped 31 and 28 points, respectively, for the Suns (12-26).
LOS ANGELES LAKERS 112 ORLANDO MAGIC 95
LOS ANGELES – Julius Randle put up 19 points, grabbed nine rebounds, and handed out five assists for the Lakers (15-26). D’Angelo Russell finished with 17 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists. Serge Ibaka had 19 points and 10 boards for the Magic (16-23).
DETROIT PISTONS 125 PORTLAND TRAIL BLAZERS 124 (2OT)
PORTLAND – Kentavious Caldwell-Pope finished with 26 points including the game-winning three to help the Pistons (18-21) pull out the victory. Andre Drummond recorded a double-double – 28 points and 14 rebounds. Reggie Jackson had 31 points. C.J. McCollum (Lehigh) sank a 3-pointer with eight seconds left to force overtime for the Blazers (16-23). McCollum forced a second overtime with 22 seconds left in the first extra period with another three. McCollum had a chance to win it in the second overtime, but his jumper from 17 feet away came up short. The fourth-year guard finished with a game-high 35 points. Damian Lillard added 20 points, nine rebounds, and five assists.
