Rundown of Friday’s NBA action.
New York Knicks 116 Milwaukee Bucks 111
MILWAUKEE – Wednesday night it was Giannis Antetokounmpo‘s turn around fade away that sealed it for the Bucks. Friday it was Carmelo Anthony knocking down a three-ball with 51 seconds left to put the Knicks up 112-111.
Anthony netted 26 points, grabbed six rebounds and dished out10 assists as the Knicks (16-19) snapped a six-game losing streak. Kristaps Porzingis added 24 points and three blocks before fouling out with 2:44 left to go in the game. The Knicks fought back from as much as 19 points down to close out the fourth quarter strong outscoring the Bucks 33-15.
Antetokunmpo and Jabari Parker dropped 25 points a piece as the Bucks fell to 18-16 on the year. Antetokunmpo added six rebounds, two steals, two assists and five blocks to his performance.
Washington Wizards 112 Minnesota Timberwolves 105
WASHINGTON – John Wall dished out a season-high 18 assists and scored 18 points as the Wizards (17-18) snapped a two-game skid. Andrew Wiggins scored 41 points for the second time this season but the Timberwolves (11-25) lost their third straight. Andrew Nicholson (St. Bonaventure) had two points and a rebound in five minutes played off the bench.
Houston Rockets 100 Orlando Magic 93
ORLANDO – Ryan Anderson scored 19 second-half points as the Rockets (29-9) won their seventh straight. James Harden, who leads the league in assists per game with 11.9, handed out 10 and dropped 14 points.
Boston Celtics 110 Philadelphia 76ers 106
BOSTON – Anthony Bradley (26), Isaiah Thomas (24) and Al Horford (19) combined for 69 points as the Celtics (22-14) won their third straight. T.J. McConnell dished out 17 assists and netted nine points as the Timberwolves fell to 9-25.
Cleveland Cavaliers 116 Brooklyn Nets 108
BROOKLYN – Kyrie Irving (32 points) and LeBron James (36) combined for 68 points leading the Cavaliers (27-8) to their ninth win in 11 games. This is the first time Irving and James have both scored 30-plus points in a game since the NBA Finals last season. Trevor Booker recorded a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds, but the Nets (8-27) lost their fifth straight.
Los Angeles Lakers 127 Miami Heat 100
LOS ANGELES – Lou Williams poured in 24 points in 24 minutes played off the bench for the Lakers (14-26). Luol Deng added a double-double with 19 points and 14 rebounds, his fifth of the season. Willie Reed recorded 22 points and 12 rebounds, but the Heat (11-27) lost for the seventh time in their last eight games.
Memphis Grizzlies 128 Golden State Warriors 119 in OT
SAN FRANCISCO – Mike Conley and Zach Randolph scored 27 points apiece in a 28-point comeback victory, improving the Grizzlies to 23-16. Stephen Curry netted 40 points as the Warriors (31-6) had their four-game winning streak snapped.
Los Angeles Clippers 106 Sacramento Kings 98
SACRAMENTO – Austin Rivers scored 24 points, leading the Clippers (25-14) to their third straight win. Chris Paul added a double-double with 14 points and 12 assists in only his second game played in the last nine. Demarcus Cousins recorded his 16th double-double of the season with 25 points and 11 rebounds, but the Kings (15-21) dropped their fourth in their last five.
