Swanigan clinches win for No. 20 Purdue

Thursday’s Top 25 action.

No. 20 PURDUE 76 OHIO STATE 75

Caleb Swanigan converted an and-one with five seconds remaining to clinch the victory for Purdue. The sophomore recorded a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Purdue controlled the glass, limiting Ohio State, ranked 55th in the nation with an average of 39.57 per game, to 32 rebounds while grabbing 44 boards. The Boilermakers, ranked 31st nationally, grabs an average of 40.33 caroms.

Senior forward Marc Loving paced Ohio State with 14 points and eight rebounds.

Purdue improves to 13-3 and Ohio State drops to 10-5.

No. 4 UCLA 81 CALIFORNIA 71

Senior guard Bryce Alford topped UCLA (15-1) with 24 points, and freshman forward T.J. Leaf added a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Ivan Rabb posted a double-double for Cal (10-5) with 17 points and 20 rebounds.

No. 5 GONZAGA 95 SAN FRANCISCO 80

Nigel Williams-Goss posted a double-double for Gonzaga (15-0) with 36 points and 11 rebounds to go with six assists. San Francisco (11-5) freshman guard Jordan Ratinho topped the Dons with 20 points, three assists, two rebounds and two steals.

No. 17 ARIZONA 66 UTAH 56

Dusan Ristic‘s 18 points and eight rebounds led Arizona (13-2).

No. 19 SAINT MARY’S 81 BYU 68

Saint Mary’s (13-1) junior center Jock Landale put up 24 points, grabbed nine rebounds and handed out six assists. BYU’s (11-5) sophomore forward Eric Mika had a double-double with 28 points and 10 rebounds.

No. 25 USC 72 STANFORD 56

Sophomore forward Chimezie Metu paced USC (15-1) with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Junior guard Malcolm Allen dropped 13 points, grabbed five rebounds, handed out two assists and collected two steals for Stanford (8-7).
