No. 18 Arizona survives Cal

No. 18 ARIZONA 67 CALIFORNIA 62

Freshman forward Lauri Markkanen put up 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to propel Arizona which trailed 34-26 early in the second half. The Wildcats went on a 15-2 run to take a 41-38 lead and only trailed once more, by one point, before reclaiming the lead for the final time.

Arizona shot 44.4 percent from the field and Cal shot 36.8 percent from the field. Arizona went into the game shooting a 78th ranked 46.9 percent per game and Cal averages an 187th best 44.2 percent.

The teams combined for 27 assists (14 for Arizona, 13 for Cal), with Cal equaling their average for the season that has them ranked 240th and Arizona staying on pace with their average of 13, which ranks them 227th.

Sophomore forward Ivan Rabb netted 16 points and 16 rebounds for Cal.

Arizona improves to 12-2 and Cal drops to 9-4.

No. 2 UCLA 76 OREGON STATE 63

Freshman forward TJ Leaf dropped a double-double (21 points, 10 rebounds) to lead UCLA (14-1). Sophomore guard Stephen Thompson Jr. had 25 points, four assists and two rebounds for Oregon State (4-11).

No. 3 KANSAS 86 TCU 80

Senior guard Frank Mason III scored 22 points to lead Kansas (12-1), with senior forward Landen Lucas adding 15 points and 17 rebounds for a double-double. Junior forward Vladimir Brodziansky scored 28 points and grabbed nine rebounds, along with 11 points and 11 rebounds from junior guard Kenrich Williams, to lead TCU (11-2).

No. 4 BAYLOR 76 OKLAHOMA 50

Johnathan Motley, a junior forward for Baylor (13-0), scored 19 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for a double-double.

No. 11 WEST VIRGINIA 92 OKLAHOMA STATE 75

Junior guard Daxter Miles Jr. led West Virginia (12-1) with 22 points, three assists and two rebounds.  Sophomore guard Juwan Evans was Oklahoma State’s (10-3) top player with 15 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double.

No. 21 OREGON 84 No. 22 USC 61

Junior forward Dillon Brooks topped Oregon (13-2) with 28 points, three rebounds and three assists.

OTHER:

DUQUESNE 75 FORDHAM 72

Redshirt junior guard Antwoine Anderson (Bishop Kearney) scored six points, adding two assists, one rebound and one block for Fordham.

BUFFALO 79 MAINE 60

Sophomore guard Dontay Caruthers (East High) scored four points while collecting three rebounds and three assists for Buffalo.
