Foye beats buzzer; Nets edge Hornets

Monday night’s NBA action.

Brooklyn Nets 120  Charlotte Hornets 118

BROOKLYN- Randy Foye pushed the Nets (8-22) past the Hornets (17-14) with his only points of the ball game.

With two seconds left in the game, Foye set a screen for teammate Brooke Lopez on an inbound play. Charlotte’s Kemba Walker left Foye to cover Lopez. Foye received the inbound, turned around and knocked down the winning bucket.

Sean Kilpatrick scored 23 points, grabbed five rebound and dished out four assists. Brooke Lopez added 21 points.

Nicolas Batum finished with 24 points for the Hornets. He chipped in five rebounds, five assists and three assists. Cody Zeller and Kemba Walker dropped 15 points a piece.

Minnesota Timberwolves 104  Atlanta Hawks 90

MINNESOTA- Coming off a Christmas Day loss to the Thunder, the Timberwolves (10-21) bounced back at home. Karl-Anthony Towns (22), Andrew Wiggins (21) and Zach LaVine (21) combined for 66 points. Dwight Howard scored 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in the Hawks (15-16) second loss to the Timberwolves in three games. Mike Muscala (Bucknell) had three points, two rebounds and four assists in 18 minutes played. DeAndre Bembry (Saint Joseph’s) had seven points and three rebounds in 17 minutes played.

Houston Rockets 131  Phoenix Suns 115

HOUSTON- James Harden‘s double-double (32 points and 12 assists) helped the Rockets (23-9) who are 8-2 in their last 10 games. Eric Gordon and Ryan Anderson added 15 points. Eric Bledsoe finished with 24 points, six rebounds and four assists for the Suns (9-22).

New Orleans Pelicans 111  Dallas Mavericks 104

NEW ORLEANS- Anthony Davis collected 28 points, 16 rebounds and four assists as the Pelicans (12-21) won their second straight. Langston Galloway (Saint Joseph’s) added 17 points, two rebound and two assists in 26 minutes played. Deron Williams had 24 points and nine assists for the Mavericks (9-22).

Chicago Bulls 90  Indiana Pacers 85

CHICAGO- Dwyane Wade helped the Bulls (15-16) with 21 points, three rebounds, five assists and two steals. The Pacers (15-17) dropped their third straight. Aaron Brooks had a team-high 19 points and seven rebounds.

Detroit Pistons 106  Cleveland Cavaliers 90

DETROIT- Tobias Harris netted 21 points off the bench to snap the Pistons (15-18) five-game losing streak.  The Cavaliers (23-7) Kyrie Irving continued his shooting magic with an 18-point night. Irving dished out eight assists.

Orlando Magic 112  Memphis Grizzlies 102

ORLANDO- Aaron Gordon‘s 30-point performance pushed the Magic (15-18) to their second straight win. Elfred Payton and Serge Ibaka added 16 points a piece. Mike Conley scored 17 points for the Grizzlies (20-13). Troy Daniels (VCU) chipped in 16 points and four rebounds in 20 minutes played.

Washington Wizards 107  Milwaukee Bucks 102

WASHINGTON- Otto Porter Jr.’s double-double, 32 points and 13 rebounds, helped the Wizards (14-16) split the back to back games with the Bucks (14-15). John Wall added a double-double with 18 points and 16 assists. Giannis Antetokunmpo finished with a team high 22 points and 12 rebounds for the Bucks.

Sacramento Kings 102  Philadelphia 76ers 100

SACRAMENTO- DeMarcus Cousins turned in a 30-point performance, and the Kings (14-17) extended their winning streak to four games. Rudy Gay added 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds. The 76ers (7-23) dropped their third straight behind Joel Embiid who had 25 points and eight rebounds.

Denver Nuggets 106  Los Angeles Clippers  102

LOS ANGELES- A combination of 47 points by Danilo Gallinari (23) and Nikola Jokic (24) ended the Nuggets (13-18) two-game losing streak. The Clippers’ (22-11) Jamal Crawford totaled 24 points, four rebounds and six assists.

Toronto Raptors 95  Portland Trail Blazers 91

PORTLAND- Kyle Lowry dropped 27 points, seven rebounds and handed out four assists to continue the Raptors (22-8) winning streak to four games. . DeMar DeRozan added a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. The Trail Blazers (13-20) dropped their sixth straight game. C.J. McCollum (Lehigh) had 29 points and dished off seven assists.
