TJ Leaf netted 14 during a 17-0 UCLA run mid-way through the first half, and the Bruins took a lead they did not surrender.
The Bruins shot 54.2 percent from the field and 32.4 percent from three. UCSB shot 29.8 percent from the field and 25 percent from three point land. UCSB out rebounded UCLA, 51-46.
Leaf and teammate Lonzo Ball, a freshman guard, posted double-doubles for UCLA. Leaf finished with 25 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists. Ball contributed 13 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists. Sophomore forward Ami Lakoju led UCSB with 11 points and 13 rebounds for a double-double.
UCLA improves to 11-0 and UCSB falls to 1-7.
No. 4 BAYLOR 89 SOUTHERN 59
Junior forward Johnathan Motley led Baylor (9-0) with 20 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double, and senior forward Shawn Prudhomme (24 points, seven rebounds) and junior forward Jared Sam (24 points, five rebounds) led Southern (4-6).
No. 14 WISCONSIN 73 GREEN BAY 59
Senior forward Nigel Hayes dropped 24 points and sophomore forward Ethan Happ picked up a double-double (14 points, 10 rebounds) for Wisconsin (10-2), and junior forward Kareem Kanter topped Green Bay (4-6) with 18 points and five rebounds.
No. 19 ARIZONA 64 GRAND CANYON 54
Freshman guard Rawle Alkins netted 11 points, eight rebounds and four assists for Arizona (9-2). Senior guard DeWayne Russell scored 19 points, four assists and three rebounds for Grand Canyon (5-5).
No. 20 SAINT MARY’S 73 WESTERN KENTUCKY 51
Jock Landale, a junior center for Saint Mary’s (8-1), paced the Gaels with a double-double (15 points and 13 rebounds) and Western Kentucky (4-6) got 11 points and six rebounds from junior forward Justin Johnson.
