Junior forward Desi Rodriguez scored on a layup to with 12 seconds remaining in the game, and freshman guard Myles Powell followed with a free throw to secure the three-point victory.
Seton Hall was favored going into the game by three points.
South Carolina shot 38.6 percent from the field and 31.3 percent from three while Seton Hall shot 34.5 percent from the field and 25 percent from three. Seton Hall won the rebounding battle 49-35.
Junior guard Khadeen Carrington led Seton Hall with 21 points while junior forward Angel Delgado added a double-double (13 points, 12 rebounds). PJ Dozier, a sophomore guard for South Carolina, topped his team in points with 20, and sophomore forward Chris Silva put up 11 points and grabbed nine rebounds for the Gamecocks.
South Carolina takes its first loss of the season at 8-1 and Seton Hall improves to 8-2.
