Westbrook’s triple-double streak ends in OKC victory

Sunday’s NBA action.

Oklahoma City Thunder 99  Boston Celtics 96

OKLAHOMA CITY- The triple-double streak came to end Sunday night as Russell Westbrook finished with 37 points, 12 rebounds and six assists. The Celtics (13-11) defense clogged the paint and denied passing lanes forcing Westbrook into seven turnovers. Westbrook entered play with seven straight triple-doubles, matching the longest streak in the NBA since Michael Jordan accomplished it in 1989.

The Thunder (15-9) trailed most of the fourth quarter until 30 seconds left when Westbrook took it into his own hands and drove to the hoop for a lay-up to put them up 96-94. The Thunder did not trail again.

Steven Adams added 16 points ad eight rebounds in the win. Al Horford scored 19 points, grabbed four rebounds and dished out six assists for the Celtics. James Crowder and Avery Bradley both added 18 points a piece in the loss.

New York Knicks 118  Los Angeles Lakers 112

LOS ANGELES- Kristaps Porzingis (26 points, 12 rebounds, 7 blocks) and Derrick Rose (25 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists) led the Knicks (14-10).   Louis Williams (24 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists) and Loul Deng (22 points, 5 rebounds) paced Los Angeles (10-16).

Philadelphia 76ers 97  Detroit Pistons 79

DETROIT- Robert Covington (16 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists) and Ersan Ilyasova (15 points, 8 rebounds, 2 steals) paced the 76ers (6-18).  Marcus Morris scored 28 points for the Pistons (13-13).

Golden State Warriors 116  Minnesota Timberwolves 108

MINNESOTA- Klay Thompson (30 points, 6 rebounds) and Stephen Curry (22 points, 4 rebounds, 9 assists) combined to score 52 points for the Warriors (21-4).

New Orleans Pelicans 120  Phoenix Suns 119

PHOENIX-  Jrue Holiday (23 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists) led the Pelicans (8-17). Langston Galloway (Saint Joseph’s) collected 12 points in 19 minutes.
