The NE Douglass Panthers erased a 15-point halftime deficit and went on to defeat the World of Inquiry Griffins, 77-67 in RCAC action Wednesday night.
World of Inquiry started the first quarter out red hot taking an early 14-6 lead. They held that lead till the first break to make it 20-11. CeyQuan Salmon led the way with eight of his 22 points in the quarter. Terrell June chipped in nine points out of the 21 scored for the Griffins in the second quarter to extend the lead to 15 going in to halftime. The Griffins led at half 41-26.
The NE Douglas Panthers made some adjustments coming out of the locker room and came out to start the third quarter with an aggressive 2-2-1 full court press causing multiple turnovers and speeding up the Griffins. Jiahmere Mitchell hit three triples during the comeback and led the way with 13 of the Panthers’ 29 in the quarter. Daiquon Turner chipped in eight of his 22 points for the Panthers in the third. The score at the end of the third was all knotted up at 55 paving the way for an exciting fourth. The Panthers continued the full court pressure into the fourth, held the Griffins to 12 points and improves to 2-1 on the season. WOI falls to 1-2.
