Villanova’s top player was senior guard Josh Hart with 12 points, nine assists and six rebounds. Penn sophomore guard Jackson Donahue led the team in scoring with 12 points. Nova stays undefeated at 7-0 and Penn falls to 2-3.
No. 4 KANSAS 91 LONG BEACH STATE 61
Sophomore guard Lagerald Vick led Kansas in scoring with 23 points in the win. Junior guard Justin Bibbins was the top performer for Long Beach State with 13 points, five assists and four rebounds. Kansas improves to 6-1 and Long Beach State falls to 1-8.
No. 5 DUKE 78 MICHIGAN STATE 69
Duke’s top player in the game was graduate forward Amile Jefferson with 17 points and 13 rebounds for a double-double. Junior guard Grayson Allen led in points with 24. Miles Bridges, a freshman guard for Michigan State, scored 11 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Duke goes to 7-1, while Michigan State is 4-4.
No. 7 XAVIER 85 NORTH DAKOTA STATE 55
Junior guard Trevon Bluiett dropped 23 points, seven assists and five rebounds to lead Xavier. North Dakota State’s Deng Geu, a freshman forward scored 18 points, and added four rebounds and three blocks to lead the team. Xavier is now 7-0, while North Dakota State is 5-3.
No. 10 CREIGHTON 93 BUFFALO 72
Creighton got a pair of double-doubles from freshman center Justin Patton (21 points and 10 rebounds) and sophomore guard Khyri Thomas (18 points and 12 rebounds). Senior forwards Blake Hamilton and Willie Conner tied for top in scoring for Buffalo with 21 points. Sophomore guard Dontay Caruthers (East High) scored five points, along with two rebounds and one assist for Buffalo. Creighton improves to 6-0 and Buffalo drops to 4-2.
No. 17 WISCONSIN 77 No. 22 SYRACUSE 60
Senior forward Nigel Hayes fell one point short of a triple-double with 11 rebounds, 10 assists and nine points. Sophomore forward Ethan Happ led Wisconsin with a double-double: 24 points and 13 rebounds. Graduate guard Andrew White III topped Syracuse with 14 points and five rebounds. Wisconsin is now 6-2 and Syracuse is 4-2.
VALPARAISO 65 No. 21 RHODE ISLAND 62
Valpo was led by senior forward Alec Peters, who had 27 points and nine rebounds. Rhode Island’s Jared Terrell, a junior guard, was the team’s leading scorer with 21 points. Valpo jumps to 7-1 and Rhode Island drops to 5-2.
