No. 3 Indiana falls to Fort Wayne in OT thriller

Tuesday night’s Top 25 action.

FORT WAYNE 71 #3 INDIANA 68 in OT

Junior guard Bryson Scott scored 18 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead Fort Wayne. Indiana’s sophomore center Thomas Bryant (Bishop Kearney) scored 18 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for a double-double of his own. Fort Wayne jumps to 3-2 and Indiana takes its first loss of the year, now 3-1.

#4 NORTH CAROLINA 107 OKLAHOMA STATE 75

UNC’s top performer was junior forward Justin Jackson with 22 points, eight rebounds and six assists. Oklahoma St. was paced by sophomore guard Juwan Evans and his 30 points. UNC goes to 6-0 and Oklahoma State also takes its first loss of the year at 4-1.

#5 KANSAS 65 GEORGIA 54

Though not the team leader in points, freshman guard Josh Jackson was Kansas’ top performer with a double- double, 15 points and 11 rebounds. Georgia junior forward Yante Maten controlled the offensive game for the team with 30 points and 13 rebounds. Kansas’ record is now 4-1 and Georgia’s is now 3-2.

#7 VIRGINIA 90 GRAMBLING STATE 34

UVA freshman guard Kyle Guy came off the bench and scored 20 points to lead the Cavaliers. Grambling State’s freshman guard off the bench, Marcel Thompson, scored eight points to lead the team in scoring. Virginia remains undefeated at 4-0, while Grambling State drops to 1-3.

#13 OREGON 69 TENNESSEE 65 in OT

Junior forward Dillon Brooks led the Ducks with 17 points and three rebounds off the bench. The Volunteers were led by the performances of junior guard Detrick Mostella (22 points and nine rebounds) and freshman forward John Fulkerson (12 points and 10 rebounds). Oregon moves to 3-2 and Tennessee drops to 1-3.

#15 SAINT MARY’S 81 SAN JOSE STATE 64

Junior center Jock Landale dropped 24 points and pulled in seven rebounds for Saint Mary’s. San Jose State’s sophomore forward Ryan Welage netted 17 points and six rebounds. Saint Mary’s moves to 4-0 and San Jose State is 1-3.

#16 WISCONSIN 73 GEORGETOWN 57

Sophomore forward Ethan Happ scored 19 points, as well as grabbing 15 rebounds for the double-double for Wisconsin. Junior guard at Georgetown LJ Peak picked up 18 points and three rebounds for the team lead. Wisconsin moves to 4-1, while Georgetown falls to 2-3.

#17 PURDUE 85 UTAH STATE 64

While they had two players with 20+ points, Purdue’s top performer was sophomore forward Caleb Swanigan with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore forward Alexis Dargenton was second on the team in points with 14 and also grabbed 10 rebounds for the double-double. Both teams go to 3-1 this season.

#18 SYRACUSE 101 SOUTH CAROLINA STATE 59

Syracuse saw double-doubles from three players: senior forward Tyler Roberson (13 points and 12 rebounds), sophomore forward Tyler Lydon (14 points and 10 rebounds) and sophomore guard Frank Howard (10 points and 11 assists). South Carolina State’s freshman forward Ozante Fields came off the bench and scored 11 points, and six rebounds. Syracuse improves to 4-0 and South Carolina State drops to 1-3.

COLORADO 68 #22 TEXAS 54

George King, a junior guard, topped Colorado with 12 points and 13 rebounds for a double-double. Texas’ top performer was freshman forward Jarrett Allen with 15 points and six rebounds. Colorado improves to 4-1 and Texas falls to 3-2.

OTHER:

ST. BONAVENTURE 102 CENTRAL MICHIGAN 71

Graduate forward Chinonso Obokoh (Bishop Kearney) finished with four points in ten minutes played.

VERMONT 87 HOFSTRA 73

Freshman forward Anthony Lamb (Greece Athena) finished with five points and four rebounds in sixteen minutes played.
