Number Nine
The St. Bonaventure Bonnies improved their winning streak to nine as they took down Big 4 rival Niagara, 67-55.
Senior Katie Healy dropped 14 and grabbed 10 rebounds for her second double-double of the season. Healy has led the team in rebounding seven times this season.
Sophomore Miranda Drummond led the Bonnies with 23 points, including 6-for-10 from beyond the arc. This was the fifth time Drummond had led the team in scoring.
Atlantic 10 Honors
With her stellar performance against Niagara, Drummond was named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week.
Scouting Canisius
After a short break celebrating the holidays, St. Bonaventure will conclude non-conference play at Canisius to take on the Griffs on Dec. 29.
Canisius leads the MAAC in field goal percentage (43.3 percent) and field goal percentage defense (34.5).
The Griffs started the season 0-2, but have won seven of their last eight games. Their most recent loss came at No. 5/6 Texas.
With a win, the Bonnies will have swept the Big 4, won 10 straight games and swept the month of December.
Assistant Coach Tiara “T” Johnson is scouting the Griffs.
“Canisius is very good offensively. They are a very good passing team, which compliments their motion offense,” Johnson said. “They shoot the three exceptionally well at 40%.
“Defensively, we need to team defend, be ready to cover for another and have active and high hands.
“Canisius’ defense makes run your offense, and they capitalize off the mistakes from your offense.
“Offensively, we need to go forward, be aggressive, take care of the ball and get the ball moving inside out, side to side.”
