CORTLAND, N.Y. – The two games of the Oneonta Outlaws-Cortland Crush doubleheader could not have been any more different. The Crush offense unloaded en route to a 7-4 victory in game one before David Ehmen (Wofford College) pitched a complete-game shutout to give the Outlaws a 3-0 victory in the nightcap, Monday night in New York College Baseball League action at Damaschke Field.

Jose Arebalo (Eastern Nazarene College) paced the Cortland offense in game one. The outfielder went 2-for-3 with a two-run triple, stolen base, and run scored. Arebalo’s triple came in the top of the third after Cortland had already taken a 3-0 lead off of three Oneonta errors.

Entering the bottom of the seventh trailing 7-2, the Outlaws managed to score two runs off of an RBI-single by Jordan “McClain” Bradley (Wofford College) and a throwing error, but it was too little, too late.

In game two, Ehmen allowed only three hits and two walks in his seven innings of work. He struck out a season-high 10 batters in the win, including at least one batter in each inning, and retired the Cortland line-up 9-up, 9-down the first time through the order.

Tyler Bruno (Iona) singled in the bottom of the third and later scored on an error to give Oneonta a lead they would never surrender. The Outlaws tacked on two more in the bottom of the sixth, highlighted by a Jessey Valdez (Dean College) RBI-triple.

Oneonta’s first three hitters, Bradley, Bruno and Zach Blonder (Maryville College), combined to go 10-for-21 with three RBI and three runs in the doubleheader.

Cortland heads into the All-Star break at 22-16, good enough for second place in the Eastern Division.

The Outlaws (17-16) meet up with the Geneva Red Wings (18-16) for a doubleheader on Tuesday before preparing to host the 2015 All-Star Game.
