Chavaughn Lewis to play in Portsmouth Invitational

PORTSMOUTH, Va. – Marist men’s basketball’s all-time leading scorer, senior Chavaughn Lewis (Queens, N.Y.), will replace Louisville senior Wayne Blackshear in the 2015 Portsmouth Invitational Tournament. Lewis found out this morning that he would suit up for team Mike Duman Auto Sales in the tournament and flew down to Virginia this afternoon.

The four-day, 12-game event features 64 of the nation’s top senior players competing in front of representatives from all NBA teams and the public. Mike Duman Auto Sales will take on Norfolk Sports Club at 9 p.m. tonight in the second game of the tournament.

The Portsmouth Invitational will be held at Portsmouth High School from April 8-11. Over 63 years the tournament has showcased many of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA history including Rick Barry, Earl “The Pearl Monroe” and Scottie Pippen.

Lewis finished 10th in the nation in scoring, averaging 20.6 points per game, and his 2.31 steals per game ranked him 13th nationally.
