CINCINNATI — Xavier University freshman forward Trevon Bluiett (Indianapolis, Ind.) has been named BIG EAST Conference Rookie of the Week. The first BIG EAST awards of the season cover all games from the beginning of the season through Sunday, Nov. 23.
Bluiett averaged 18.0 points and 5.3 rebounds while shooting 67.9 percent from the floor in a 3-0 start for Xavier. His top scoring output was 20 points in a 97-74 win against Long Beach State. Bluiett, who has scored in double figures in every game this season, leads the team in scoring and free throw percentage (.917). He is third in rebounding.
Xavier hosts Murray State tonight at 7 p.m. in the final game of the season-opening four-game homestand.
