Marist signs Brian Parker to National Letter of Intent

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Marist head men’s basketball coach Mike Maker has announced the signing of Brian Parker to a National Letter of Intent. A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Parker will join the Red Foxes as a true freshman for the 2015-16 season.

Parker was named Northeast Lakes Region Division III Player of the Year in Ohio, Associated Press Division III Co-Player of the Year, and North Coast League-White Division Player of the Year last season. He helped lead his team to the Division III state championship game. Parker is a tough, strong guard who has the ability to play multiple positions. A left-hander, Parker is a solid all-around player who has a great feel for the game. Last season, he averaged 17.7 points, 6.4 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game.


Villa Angela St. Joseph’s has produced such athletes as London Fletcher, Mike Golic, Desmond Howard and Clark Kellogg.


Parker’s father, Brian Parker, was a standout at Cleveland State and the Vikings’ leading scorer in the 1989-90 season.

He comes from a championship program, possesses a high basketball IQ and is a fierce competitor. Most importantly, he comes from a wonderful family and has been well-coached, which gives him a chance to make an immediate impact.”

I have no doubt that he could play at a higher level, but I think this is the best fit for him. As a coach, you want your players to go where they’re loved.
