After a week off, Around the Diamond is back with authority. Host Dave Holcomb takes the listeners through the top stories around Major League Baseball. To open the podcast, Holcomb explains his complex stance Pitcher Ryan Dempster’s suspension for hitting Alex Rodriguez in the elbow with a pitch on Sunday night. To further check out his opinion, don’t forget to check out Dave’s Sports Corner on YouTube at holcombmdavid username. For the rest of the show, Holcomb covers teams he hasn’t paid much attention to this season. First, the Los Angeles Dodgers have been on a tear that has not been done since WWII. Ace Pitcher Clayton Kershaw leads the way for his team and in CY Young voting despite posting a record of 12-7. The show stays in the National League West with the Arizona Diamondbacks. The D-backs won a crucial series in Pittsburgh and have two more games in Cincinnati before playing losing teams for the next 12 games. In the next segment, Holcomb moves to the Cincinnati Reds in the NL Central. Can the Reds surprise and win the division again? As always, the show ends with ‘The First to Third’ segment where Holcomb provides three opinions on other topics around the league.
