SYRACUSE, NY — The Syracuse Salt Cats made their much anticipated debut against the Adirondack Trailblazers on Monday June 3rd at LeMoyne College. Unfortunately, the hits were scarce for the Salt Cats as they were defeated 10-2.
The Salt Cats combined for a total of three hits on the night. In the bottom of the fourth, Cristian Fiorito slapped a single to center field and was able to reach third after the pitcher overthrew the first baseman while stealing for second base. Zach Carlino up to the plate, hits an RBI single to right filed, as Fiorito scores the first of the two Salt Cats runs.
Moving on to the bottom of the fifth, Carlos Guzman uses his speed to ensure the infield hit. He makes his way to home base for a run after stealing second, tagging on a fly ball to third base, and hustling down the line to score on a passed ball.
While the Salt Cats struggled to hit, the Trailblazers were on fire. They scored 10 runs on 15 hits against the six Salt Cats pitchers. This Salt Cats team looked like a cohesive unit and does not expect their hitting woes to continue. They face the Jr. Chiefs on Tuesday June 4th at 1pm.
