“This is an exciting and important time in the development of our university and our athletic program,” said Judy Rose, Director of Athletics, Charlotte 49ers. “Preparations for our first football season are in full swing, our stadium is nearing completion and with our upcoming move to Conference USA we are not only set to step quickly into FBS play but are enhancing the long-term prospects of each of our teams.  Partnering with IMG College puts our program in position to take full advantage of the opportunities that lie in front of us.  We are excited to move forward with IMG by our side.”

The Charlotte 49ers relationship continues the expansion of IMG’s groundbreaking national collegiate marketing platform. IMG College now represents the media and sponsorship rights for more than 90 universities nationwide.

“This partnership will give IMG College a full-time sales presence in Charlotte and the ability to utilize resources around the Carolinas at our collegiate partners including Duke, Appalachian State, ECU, South Carolina, Clemson, Furman, Wofford and Wake Forest,” said Ben Sutton, President of IMG College. “With the 49ers joining Conference USA in 2013, this is an exciting opportunity for our North Carolina-based company to help make college sports history in Charlotte. We’re eager to help build the Charlotte 49ers brand, support its student athletes and fans, and drive revenue to the school.”

The new IMG partnership will begin with the 2012-13 school year. IMG is currently identifying a dedicated Charlotte team to be based on campus.
