Five Rochester RazorSharks scored in double digits and three of them finished with double-doubles as the team went on the road and defeated the Scranton Wilkes-Barre Steamers 124-106 on a St. Patrick’s Day night game.
Jerice Crouch finished with a game-high 26 points, Jamaal Davis had a game-high 10 rebounds, and Tasheed Carr’s 12 assists were also a game high.
“I felt pretty good out there,” said Crouch who went 10/11 from the floor, including 4/4 from 3-point range. “I was happier to get the win and help the team score a lot of points.” Crouch also finished with 10 assists and seven rebounds.
Scoring points is important as the season comes to a close because the most points scored is the tie-breaker for home-court advantage in the Premier Basketball League finals.
Currently, Rochester and the Central Division leaders Central Illinois Drive both only have one loss, meaning points scored in the season can become very important, but Rochester believes the best way to score is to make sure the other team does not.
“In order to score points, it has to start for us on the defensive end with stops and rebounds,” said RazorSharks Assistant Coach Chris Iversen.
One of the key men in the rebounding game is Jamaal Davis, who scored 24 points to complete his double-double. Rochester used Davis in the second half as they opened the game up.
“We saw an advantage and we went with it,” said Davis. “We dominated the post and it helped us get over the hump.”
The RazorSharks lit up the box score, as Carr completed his double-double with 22 points and also grabbed six rebounds. Todd McCoy came off the bench for a 19 point, five assist effort and Aaron Williams scored 11 points in the first quarter and finished with 16.
Leading the way for Scranton Wilkes-Barre was Vincent Simpson, who had a double-double of his own with 23 points and 10 assists. Lionel Armstead finished with 22 points, five rebounds, and six assists and Darrion Griffin and Kyle Robbins each had 14 points.
