POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Devin Price hit 3-pointers on back-to-back possessions for Marist College, breaking a 49-49 tie against Loyola University Maryland and sparking a 19-1 Red Foxes run that would break the game open in a 72-54 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference victory on Wednesday night.

Loyola (19-7 overall, 12-4 MAAC) led by two with 7:22 left in the game when Dylon Cormier made a pair of free throws, but the Red Foxes (10-16, 5-10) tied the score 19 ticks later when Chavaughn Lewis threw a lob pass that Adam Kemp finished with a dunk.

Kemp finished with a game-high 17 points to go with 11rebounds and eight blocked shots. Price scored 16, and Jay Bowie added 13 for the Red Foxes.

After Kemp’s dunk, Marist got the ball back on a Lewis steal, and Price hit his first of two-straight threes off an out-of-bounds play. He then knocked down a second 30 seconds later, pushing the Red Foxes up by six.

Shane Walker, who led Loyola with 16 points and 12 rebounds, made a free throw at 5:20 to briefly break the scoring streak by the Red Foxes.

The respite was brief, however, as Marist scored the next 11 points to go ahead 66-50 on two Price free throws at 1:39.

“Bad shots led to us shooting 28-percent in the second half,” Head Coach Jimmy Patsos said. “But, you have to give Marist and (Red Foxes Head Coach) Chuck Martin all of the credit. They played harder and wanted it more.”

Loyola trailed by eight, 21-13, with 8:22 to go on a Kemp layup, but the Greyhounds held Marist scoreless for nearly the rest of the half. Walker gave Loyola the lead with a traditional 3-point play at 4:15, grabbing an offense, making a layup and free throw after drawing contact.

R.J. Williams made two free throws, and Robert Olson drove into the lane to make a layup with 54 ticks on the clock.

Cormier then scored on a fast-break opportunity off a Williams steal with 24 seconds to go.

The Red Foxes broke Loyola’s 16-0 run with just over a second to play when Anell Alexis scored his only points of the game.

Marist kept it up after halftime, scoring the stanza’s first eight points to go up 31-29 on a Kemp 3-point play.

The Greyhounds are back in action on Sunday, February 19, when they step out of conference action for a Bracketbuster game against Boston University at 12 p.m. in Reitz Arena.
