PHILADELPHIA – Desirae Ball scored 14 points, all in the second half, and Lorreal Jones tallied 12 points and eight rebounds in Saint Louis’ 69-50 Atlantic 10 Conference loss to Saint Joseph’s Sunday afternoon at Hagan Arena.

Michelle Baker of Saint Joseph’s netted a game-high 21 points as the Hawks improved to 16-8 overall and 6-4 in the A-10. Ashley Prim had 11 points and six assists, while Kelly Cavallo registered 10 points and a game-high nine rebounds.

Saint Joseph’s jumped out to a 9-2 lead. Janisha Gearlds turned an offensive rebound into a layup to make it 9-4, but that was as close as the Billikens would get. The Hawks finished the first half on a 13-1 spurt that gave them a 38-16 cushion at the break.

Saint Joseph’s expanded the lead to 51-23 before Saint Louis scored on five of seven possessions in a 10-0 flurry that trimmed the Hawks’ advantage to 51-33.

Later, Courtney Webb recorded a three-point play and a 3-point field goal on successive possessions to make it 60-44 with 3:42 to play, but Saint Joseph’s regained command and went on the post the victory.

The Billikens (8-17, 2-8 A-10) host Massachusetts Wednesday, Feb. 15. It’s Education Day at Chaifetz Arena, and game time is noon.
