Freshman Chavaughn Lewis (Queens, N.Y.) was the next Red Fox to put together consecutive points as he followed up his successful layup with two good free throws. This four point streak brought Marist within six points at 18-12 with 13:57 to go.

From this point through the remainder of the half, efficient Niagara offense was the story as the Purple Eagles connected on six three-pointers over the final 13:27 and on 45.5 percent of their field goal attempts. Marist struggled to answer the host team and went into the locker room at halftime down 46-32.

A quick glance at the half time statistics showed that Price was the leading scorer for the Red Foxes with 12 points on two treys and six free throws. As a team, Marist shot 84.2 percent (16-19) from the foul line.

In the second half, the Red Foxes had a hard time chipping away at the 14-point halftime deficit as Niagara continued shooting in the mid-40s at 44.4 percent (16-36). Antoine Mason’s 15 points helped the Purple Eagles increase their differential to a final total of 19 at 86-67.

Marist finished with three players in double figures as Price finished with 20 points, Lewis with 15 and Kemp with 10. In both Lewis and Kemp’s cases they each notched 10 of their points at the foul line. Overall, the Red Foxes shot 86.1 percent (31-36) from the charity strip for the game.
