Richmond (4-1) hosts the East Tennessee State Lady Bucs Monday night at 7 p.m. at the Robins Center.
The Latest:
• Richmond fell to Florida Gulf Coast, 81-67, Friday night at Alico, Arena inFort Myers, Fla. Richmond was paced by Abby Oliver’s 17 tallies, and Miah Register added 13. The Spiders went a season-high 20-for-23 from the charity stripe.
• Oliver will be honored with a game ball in a pregame ceremony after scoring her 1,000th point at ODU. Abby Oliver became the 18th Spider in program history to notch 1,000 points in her career when shetallied a season-high 22 points last Sunday in Norfolk, Va.
• Rachael Bilney earned her first-ever A-10 Player of the Week honor with a career 19-point performance against Boston University, including scoring eight straight points in a pivotal span to rally the Spiders past the Terriers, 72-60.
Bilney also averaged 16.5 points in a 2-0 week for Richmond, including wins over Boston University and Old Dominion. Bilney followed that performance with 14 points (5-12) in a 78-63 win at ODU.
• Richmond has three players averaging double-figures in Oliver (14.4), Bilney (12.8) and Okoro at 11.0. Register sored a season-high 13 points against Florida Gulf Coast and follows closely at 9.2 points per game.
• Richmond went a season-high 20-for-23 from the charity stripe and have sunk54-of-63 attempts for 86 percent accuracy, which leads all A-10 schools. Oliver went a perfect 7-for-7 against FGCU.
• The Spiders announced the signing of guard Bria Powell to a National Letter of Intent this week. Powell hails from Virginia Beach, Va. and won two state titles at Princess Anne High School.
• Richmond hosts East Tennessee State, travels to VCU and welcomes Virginia to the Robins Center this week.
The Teams:
• The Spiders come into Monday’s contest 4-1, while the Lady Bucs (0-5) are looking for their first win of the season. East Tennessee State won the series’ only meeting last year at home with a 96-84 win. The Lady Bucs are paced byNatalie Pickwell’s 10.2 points per game, while Oliver leads the Spiders at 14.4 points per game.
• ETSU is led by Natalie Pickwell’s 10.2 points per game, with Tarita Gordon following with 9.4 points per game.
• The Lady Bucs are the second-straight Atlantic Sun opponent the Spiders face, having battled FGCUFriday night in Fort Myers, Fla. ETSU was tabbed third in the Atlantic Sun Coaches poll with Destiny Mitchell being selected to the All Conference preseason team.
• After Monday’s game, Richmond renews its cross-town rivalry with VCU Thursday at the Verizon Center downtown. The Spiders have won 10 of the last 11, including three in a row and lead the all-time series, 51-36.
