Richmond (3-0) travels to old CAA rival Old Dominion Sunday for a 5 p.m. game.
The Latest:
• Rachael Bilney scored a career-high 19 points and eight straight in a pivotal span to lift the Spiders (3-0) over Boston University, 72-60, Friday night.Bilney, who has scored in double-figures in each of the Spiders’ wins, poured in a career-best 19 points, going 7-for-14 from the field and hit a career-best five shots from behind the arc.
• Liz Brown was automatic in the post, with 15 tallies and a perfect 7-for-7 mark from the field. Brown also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. Genevieve Okoro posted 14 points, seven rebounds and went a season-best 8-for-8 from the free-throw line. Ryann Dannelly tied a career-high with nine points and Becca Wann dished a career-best and team-high eight assists. It was the third-straight game the Spiders have had three or more players score in double-figures. Richmond had five players in double-figures in the win over the Tribe, the first time such has happened since a season-opening win over Kennesaw State Nov. 14, 2008.
• Richmond dished 22 assists, committed a season-low nine turnovers and grabbed nine steals. Richmond improved to 3-0, its best start since the 2008-09 season.
• Abby Oliver scored four points, only five tallies shy of becoming the 18th member to join the 1,000 point club in program history. Oliver handed out acareer-best six assists. Richmond went a season-high 12-for-14 from the charity stripe.
• Richmond boasts three players averaging double figures through three games,with Bilney leading the charge at 14.0 ppg. Okoro follows at 12.0 ppg and Oliver rounds out at 11.0 ppg.
• The Spiders have outscored their opponents by 16.3 ppg through three games and scored a season-best 77 points in a win over William & Mary.
The Teams:
• Richmond travels to Old Dominion Saturday to square off against its formal CAA rival. The Lady Monarchs hold a 23-5 edge in the series, but the Spiders won handily, 65-43, last Dec. in the Robins Center.
• The two teams share four common opponents in GW, VCU, William & Mary and JMU. Richmond enters the contest 3-0, while the Lady Monarchs will try to win their first game of the season.
