A-10 Performance of the Week | Alex Gensler

A-10 performer of the week (1)

By Kyle Soppe

This is a weekly award presented to the top performer from an A-10 team in the past week, starting on Monday and ending on Sunday. For the week ranging from November 7th to November 13th, Alex Gensler of Duquesne is my nominee.

The Pittsburgh native poured in a career high 33 points in a 74-70 win over St. Francis. She shot 60% from the field (12/20) and drained a school record eight three pointers in this memorable performance. Gensler has improved statistically every year, and is poised to be a among the conference’s elite.  Her experience (Friday was her 65th collegiate start) indicates that very little will catch her off guard, allowing her to focus on leading her Duke teammates. Duquense was picked to finish third in the A-10 this season, but if Gensler gets her way, they will be contending for the top spot, and potentially a NCAA tournament berth.

Chime in with other notable A-10 performances. Who else came up big for their team in the season opener? Let your thoughts be heard here on the Pine.

Great nomination Kyle! I am going with Megan Van Tatenhove of St. Bonaventure. Van Tatenhove and Jessica Jenkins were huge in the Bonnies come from behind win over St. Johns, 64-58. Van Tatenhove had 16 pts and 7 rebounds in the win.
