Richmond opens its home slate against its oldest rival, William & Mary Monday at 7 p.m. at the Robins Center.
THE LATEST:
- Richmond used a dominant second-half effort to cruise past Navy, 56-39, Friday in Annapolis, Md. Richmond was led by the superb return of Rachael Bilney, who recorded a team-high and matched a career-best with 12 tallies. Bilney rounded out her impressive line with a career-high seven boards, team-high three assists and four steals. Bilney missed all of the 2010-11 season with a knee injury and made her first start for the Spiders Nov. 11.
- Abby Oliver and Genevieve Okoro followed Bilney with 10 points apiece. It was the 45th time Oliver scored in double figures, and shaved her point deficit to just 28 to reach the coveted 1,000 point milestone. Oliver will become the 18th Spider in program history to accomplish the feat.
- Nine Spiders recorded points in the scoring column, with Liz Brown, Miah Register and Keri Soppe scoring their first-ever collegiate points. Brown and Register both started for the Spiders, while Soppe played 16 minutes. Brownfinished with four points, Register with seven and Soppe converted an old-fashioned three-point play to give her three points.
- Guard Kristina King did not travel to Navy as she suffered an ankle injury in practice last week. Her status is questionable Monday. Amber Nichols and Leah Johnson have both been placed on injured reserve status until further notice.
