NFL Week 8 Rundown

Week 8
The Toronto Argos are the equivalent of the Montreal Expos. And the Bills and Redskins will pay tribute by playing this weeks game in Toronto

By Kyle Soppe

This week has “rebound” written all over it, as Drew and I struggled through an ugly Week 7. With 6 games having at least a 9 point spread, our winners this week should be accurate. But as everyone knows, Vegas is out to get you, so picking ATS is always dangerous. I’d like to thank Rob Platt for filling in this week on the podcast. The Texans fan did a great job and will be joining us in future shows.

Indianapolis @ Tennessee (-9) : Titans 28-17

Jacksonville @ Houston (-9.5): Texans 31-14

Minnesota @ Carolina (-3): Panthers 31-21

New Orleans @ Saint Louis (+13): Saints 34-24 (Saints can’t cover huge spread two weeks in a row, can they?)

Arizona @ Baltimore (-13): Ravens 27-10

Miami @ New York (-9.5): Giants 34-17

Washington vs Buffalo (-6): Bills 24-17

Detroit (-2.5) @ Denver: Lions 31-20 (Over/Under 5 profanities used by Suh toward Tebow)

New England (-3) @ Pittsburgh: Patriots 28-24

Cleveland (+9) @ San Francisco: 49ers 27-20

Cincinnati (+3) @ Seattle: Bengals 20-15

Dallas @ Philadelphia (-3): Eagles 38-31

San Diego (-3) @ Kansas City: “Go Chargers Go” 34-13

Only read/listen to this column because of Drew? No worries, you can read his reactions on his new blog.  How does every one feel about these Toronto/London games? Rumor has it that the NFL is looking to some day have a franchise based overseas.

Kyle – You just tebowed us with a direct reference to Tebow! How dare you.

Ravens are -13???? Is that correct? Is Arizona that bad? Heard that Rice only had eight carries against Jaguars. What’s going on with Baltimore?

Now all you need to start doing is singing “Tebow” to Peter Gabriel’s “Biko,” and you’ll have a catchy tune.

C’mon Bill, give us some more lyrics.

Still groggy form last night – but whilst I think, check this out – https://tebowing.com/

Pats are going into Pittsburgh and this should be a tough game. But are there any coaches coming off a bye week better than Bill Belichick??

With sincere apologies to Peter Gabriel:

    April 2010,
Football draft is right on time,
    It was business as usual,
Broncos pick is on the line,
    Oh Tebow, Tebow, because Tebow
    Oh Tebow, Tebow, because Tebow
He will matter, he will matter,
The man is blessed, the man is blessed

When he try a slant pass right
Down in the zone that’s red
See the refs wearing black and white
Now they blow the play dead
    Oh Tebow, Tebow, because Tebow
    Oh Tebow, Tebow, because Tebow
He will matter, he will matter,
The man is blessed, the man is blessed

You can get down on one knee,
But you can’t take home a Heisman,
Once your team begins to score
The press will blow it higher
    Oh Tebow, Tebow, because Tebow
    Oh Tebow, Tebow, because Tebow
He will matter, he will matter,
The man is blessed, the man is blessed

And the eyes of the world are
    rolling now, rolling now

Statistically speaking, Andy Reid is a perfect 12-0 off bye weeks. But if you told me one team in the league would have 2 weeks to prepare for a game against me, I’m most intimated by “the hoody” having the extra time

    Bill – HELMET STICKER!

Bill – If I am ever in a crowd and that crowd breaks out into song singing Biko, and I immediately starting singing the lyrics to the new “Biko” or should I say “Tebow” song – I am blaming you. 🙂

    Great stuff!!

Thanks Casey. Probably could have done better if I had more sleep and more painkillers, but I’ll take the compliment.

And thanks to you and Smitty for swinging by last night, and for going the distance.

When was the last time a Drew Brees led Saints team laid a goose egg in the first half??? Rams up 17-0 in third quarter. AJ Feeley! Good bet taking those points, Kyle.

Make it 24-0 Rey ,, that and my AFC Champion is on the verge of losing back to back games in which they were double digit favorites. Vegas has reportedly sent a check my way, as long as I promise that people to bet my picks. Can’t really aruge with the business model there

Its rare i go against a huge spread, and the Ravens are proving why

  16. Rey says

    October 30, 2011 at 3:14 pm

Haha – I’m the same way. I picked the Falcons to win it all. They are firing on a single cylinder this season.

  17. Rey says

    October 30, 2011 at 3:16 pm

What are you doing Dolphins?! Calm down – you’re losing the Andrew Luck sweepstakes!

  18. Rey says

    October 30, 2011 at 3:18 pm

If the Colts get the first pick and they take Luck, does anyone think Manning will have no interest in apprenticing him? Isn’t he too competitive to basically turn into a personal trainer for him?

  19. Smitty says

    October 30, 2011 at 4:00 pm

The Cardinals, Colts and Dolphins are all doing a great job of proving why they belong in the Andrew Luck sweepstakes.

Rey, I think Peyton would mentor Andrew Luck. 1. I think he has too much professionalism. 2. I think he cares too much about the Colts. and 3. I think he has seen the backlash from the Brett Farve/Aaron Rodger and cares too much about his legacy.

  20. Casey says

    October 30, 2011 at 6:09 pm

Speaking of Luck – that performance last night was something that can’t be measured by stats. Luck’s ability to rebound after throwing a pick 6 late in the game and lead his team down the field was outstanding.

  21. Casey says

    October 30, 2011 at 6:11 pm

Bills had 4 sacks through 6 games this season. So far against Washington, Buffalo has 7.

I think we are starting to see just how much the lockout affected the Eagles. They looked great last night!
