The Outside World is a weekly recap of the best basketball writing and analysis the internet has to offer.
– Talk about advertising your stupidity.
– Ryan Schwan discusses a new historical template for comparing Chris Paul.
– I love the cliche “It’s a work in progress.” I can’t wait to hear Carmelo Anthony mumbling it, ringless, years from now as the Knicks try to unload his expiring contract.
– Zach Lowe pokes some holes in the MVP credentials of a few front runners. Derrick Rose and Dwight Howard.
– Kevin Pelton has an eloquent elaboration on a Ken Pomeroy idea: How do incentives drive the adoption of new techiniques for player assessment, specifically advanced statistics?
– Dwight Howard asserts that most MVP races are decided before the season begins. If that was true Kevin Durant will be this seasons MVP. Kind of pokes a hole in your argument doesn’t it Mr. Howard?
– The Grizzlies have taken a huge leap forward and they’ve done it by wreaking havoc on the defensive end of the floor.
– My wife is a physical therapist and not particularly interested in NBA. Luckily, Henry Abbott put together a post on body mechanics that we can both enjoy.

Still too early to talk MVP. Let’s see what happens down the stretch. Lowe makes some valid points … but he also makes some points in Rose’s favor. The TEAM is the thing with the Bulls anyway. Deng! Even Luol is contributing.
Another interesting matchup tonight vs Orlando on the tube.
