If I were Ozzie … and I said this to fellow Sox fans yesterday … no way I’m starting Javier “5 inning” Vazquez in the opener. You might as well just forfeit. He is not a big game pitcher … never has been, never will be. And just like he has done through this season and his entire mediocre career, he gives back big leads and momentum like it’s a hot potato. Sox take a 3-1 lead in the 3rd … he gives it right back and then some in Bot 3rd. I’d have started Buehrle … a proven winner with some moxie.

I’m ticked … I thought this to be the obvious choice 🙁

Geeeeez. The Cubs aren’t feeling any pressure, are they? Wow. They’re crumbling in front of our eyes … a house of cards.

It’s been a tough couple of days …

I am a little concerned.. are there bridges in Alaska?

Cubs look like a deer in the headlights right now. Pinella is going to snap..

There is no joy in Wrigleyville.

Even Sarah Palin did better than Chicago baseball yesterday … and that’s saying something. So things are pretty dismal at the moment 🙁

The best thing for the Cubs, at this point, is to get out of Chicago where there is a bit too much pressure. Lou will get them in LA and get them to relax without the smothering presence of the Wrigley (starved) faithful. Muels is calling a game 3 victory for the Cubbies! (kiss of death?)…

Speaking of Sarah Palin – Wally the Clipboard eagerly anticipates your take on the governor of Alaska and her bid to represent the Republican party in the White House.

First of all, I’m a died in the wool Republican … let me say that. But the Republican bid to win this election is now a long shot at this point … kinda like the Cubs chances of emerging from this series with LA, but probably worse. In my humble but very educated opinion, Sarah Palin isn’t qualified to lead the State of Alaska, let alone the nation. My opinion is shared by many who live here … we know the “real Sarah”.

I was going to ask the other day after Manny bombed the Cubs again if Red Sox Nation misses him yet. After last night’s game and Bay’s second bomb…nevermind.

  12. Smitty   October 4, 2008 at 11:24 am

    Reynell,

Funny thing.. Bay looked really bad the first 2 times up against Lackey, since then he has been on fire. With Drew in the lineup becomes very dangerous again. It doesn’t look like Lowell has much left (not by choice I might add ) and they are going to space out when he plays – if he plays.

Considering what is wrong with his hip, I am shocked that he is even able to go right now.
